Week In Review: August 7-11

by Travis Mateer

book excerpt starts at 31:00

This week is a very serious review because things in Zoom Town have gotten quite serious for me, considering the legal cloud now hovering over me and everything rattling around in my head that I CAN’T write about right now. That’s why the tentative title to the poem/song at the end of this week’s episode is called Dead Man’s Switch.

Did you know a petitioner of an order of protection is NOT LIMITED in what they can do when it comes to contacting the RESPONDENT, or family members of the respondent, of a protective order enacted by our “objective” courts?

What this means for me is that everything I’m writing right now is being very closely scrutinized by someone who is worried about what I know, and if things veer to close to this persons discomfort zone (which is the world), then a family member of mine just might get another text like this one:

Everything I have tried to do to defend MY name through this criminal justice system has been shot down, so I guess it doesn’t matter that the petitioner knew the judge, and that I didn’t have legal representation and begged for a postponement, or that NO lawyer in this region so far can take my case, which comes with a 30 day deadline to challenge the order placed over me for an ENTIRE YEAR.

What do I know that’s so threatening? That’s for another post, which I will schedule to publish sometime at the beginning of next year. This will only happen if I cannot UN-schedule the post, and THAT will only happen if I’m incapacitated in some way.

I’m not just being dramatic for effect. The Mineral County Sheriff’s Office standoff, documented by one of the ballsiest motherfuckers I’ve ever seen, highlights how rising crime from the drug war being waged against us is raising the tension-level for EVERYONE.

Look closely at this image. Is the Sheriff Deputy really holding his handgun gangsta style?

If you don’t know what “gangsta style” means in this context, here’s another image that better exemplifies how Hollywood wants you to think urban gunslingers use their firearms.

This image of Hollywood thug programming is more than appropriate, considering the book I read from for this week is John Potash’s Drugs As Weapons Against Us. This is a must-read for anyone who wants a more solid foundation for understanding our current National predicament.

These last few weeks have been a dark nadir for me, and I’m really hoping things bottom-out and stabilize soon. I deeply appreciate those who know what I’ve been going through and the support they’ve offered, like “TC”, who outed himself this week to verify a firefighter with an impressive local track record of kicking ass has stepped up to safely secure my bang-bangs for me.

While my status as “husband” will be officially over soon, my status as “father” will NEVER end because my love for my kids is fierce and eternal. That’s why I’m going to do what it takes to get myself to a better place.

Now, with all that said, here’s the list of links comprising the week’s content at Zoom Chron. And below that, the ways to financially support my calling to expose the corruption in this beautifully terrible town.
