How To Win By Losing: The Victim Strategy

by Travis Mateer

In this inverted reality we call America, losing is a form of winning because VICTIMS have their own vibrant culture to provide an identity that validates their lived experiences, and now those lived experiences will be weaponized by their handlers as these victims are used like wind-up toys in places like Chicago.

Not even 24 hours after President-elect Donald Trump won more votes in Illinois this general election than in the previous two, and after winning the US election in a massive red wave sweep, far-left protesters gathered outside the Trump Hotel in Obama’s Chicago.

The protests appear to have been highly organized and well-planned before the election, given the coordination among activists, the hundreds—if not thousands—of protesters—many holding signs—and the likely pre-approved protest routes from City Hall.

Organizers shouted into megaphones, “Trump is a fascist” and “racist,” echoing hate speech spewed by the defunct Harris-Walz campaign in the months leading up to November 5.

Did Trump arrest and imprison January 6th protestors? Did Trump weaponize the DOJ and IRS? Or, perhaps more likely, are Democrats raging hypocrites who are terrified that what THEY HAVE DONE TO OTHERS will be done to them?

If you’d like to review the highlights of a government oversight committee that took testimony from whistleblowers regarding the deep corruption of Joe Biden and family, this link has a great summary with key takeaways, like these:

On NPR, the propaganda included mocking RFK Jr. with a question about Fluoride. Despite a landmark court decision in October, the issue of Fluoride will be used by corporate media to frame Trump supporters as conspiracy kooks, while downplaying stuff like THIS:

A first-of-its-kind ruling on the health risks of the tooth-strengthening chemical fluoride could open the floodgates to an influx of other efforts to compel EPA action, creating uncertainty for the agency, experts say.

The decision — precedent-setting for Toxic Substances Control Act citizen petitions — represents a rare occasion in which a judge disagreed with federal officials on the science, forcing EPA to regulate against its wishes.

So, what are the victims of Trump willing to do to stop FASCISM? I suspect you might be hearing about the KILL BABY HITLER thought experiment soon.

It’s important to understand the mentality of the professional victim, so expect this topic to reappear over the next few months as we watch TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) reach new extremes, but through my unique HYPER-LOCAL lens, so stay tuned!

What Scapegoat Will Democrats Choose To Elude Accountability For Sucking So Hard?

by Travis Mateer

The results are clear: Donald Trump will be America’s 47th president. That means we can move on to the next phase of this process: listening to WHY Democrats lost, from their loser perspective. Was it Russia? Male toxicity? Racism? Sexism? What factor, or factors, will Democrats choose to latch onto in order to avoid the harsh reality that their party is despised by a significant portion of the American public, and yesterday that portion of the public sent a message: a foul-mouthed felon is vastly more preferable than a cackling wine guzzler who can barely string together coherent sentences.

One of the tired refrains that gets applied to people like me, who no longer participate in this charade, is that by not voting I don’t have the right to complain about the result. Who says I didn’t participate? I did, in fact, put my ballot in a ballot box, it just happened to be an ANTIQUE ballot box from a time when technology wasn’t an insidious force of influence in our country and world.

Democrats aren’t the only ones who may need to find a scapegoat soon. If Jon Tester loses, and Montana becomes a bloody hue of Republican Red, then it will be up to Republicans to fix things that are broken, like our criminal justice system, our Medicaid system, and the gentrifying tax schemes Republicans ignored last session BECAUSE ZOOEY!

Since I’m not a partisan hack, I’ll be more than happy to continue probing our politicians for evidence of competency as they pretend to be able to do the job the public elected them to do. For example, since Zooey Zephyr DID win reelection, will Republicans in Montana be capable of ignoring the trolling of her national trans-agenda?

If Republicans think they have any narrative-control abilities in this state, this quote from NBC Montana about the Zephyr victor should give stupid Montana Republicans something to think about (emphasis mine):

Zephyr, a Democrat, defeated Republican Barbara Starmer in her Democrat-leaning district in the college town of Missoula.

Zephyr, who was in her first term, was last permitted to speak on the chamber floor in April 2023, when she refused to apologize for saying some lawmakers would have blood on their hands for supporting a ban on gender-affirming medical care for youth.

Before voting to expel Zephyr from the chamber, Republicans called her words hateful and accused her of inciting a protest that brought the session to a temporary standstill. Some even sought to equate the non-violent demonstration with an insurrection.

Cool! If THROWING THINGS is non-violent, how about I attend a County Commissioner meeting and throw something in protest of tax policy? Would our County Commissioners agree that throwing things is non-violent, or would I be instead arrested for attempted assault? (emphasis mine):

The April 24 protest temporarily stopped legislative action on the House floor. Demonstrators were at the Capitol in support of Zephyr, after House Speaker Rep. Matt Regier, R-Kalispell, repeatedly refused to recognize her to speak on the floor. Republican leaders said Zephyr, a transgender woman, had violated legislative rules of decorum when she said during a floor debate that lawmakers should be ashamed and would have “blood on their hands” for passing a bill banning gender-affirming medical procedures for transgender youth.

On April 24, Zephyr’s supporters disrupted the daily floor session by shouting and chanting “Let her speak!” from the House gallery. Some threw red gloves onto the floor. Regier stopped the session and ordered the gallery cleared, but many protesters remained, as Zephyr stood at her desk, holding her microphone over her head.

It will be interesting to see how Democrats handle the clear message that was sent last night by voters that their woke, cancel-culture bullshit is DONE! Will they ignore this obvious reality, or will they perhaps finally get to that stage in the grief process where they accept that it’s not Russians, or racism, or sexism that’s to blame for their loss, it’s WHAT THEY STAND FOR that’s so unpopular.

A Mugshot Extortion Racket?

by Travis Mateer

Starting November 1st, the Missoula County Detention Facility will NO LONGER be posting mugshots. Here’s the statement Missoula County sent out regarding this change:

As of last Friday, November 1, 2024, Missoula County Detention Facility will no longer be posting all booking photos on our Public Jail Roster. The Public Jail Roster will continue to be available for the public to identify who is in custody along with recent releases, but booking photos will not be available for general public review or independent websites to repost.

Missoula County Detention Facility received unconfirmed reports of requests to exchange money to remove booking photos from the internet, which prompted a policy review. After reviewing the justification for posting all photos, it was decided that there was no justification to continue to post booking photos on the roster and that removing them was more in line with recent changes to Montana state law, as well as the practices of other Montana counties’ detention facilities.

Public requestors may make individual records requests for booking photos through the County’s records request portal, https://missoulacountymt.nextrequest.com/. These will be processed according to County policy and state law at MCA 44-5-301.

Having posted mugshots of others, in addition to my own, I’m a bit ambivalent about this change. Here’s one question that comes to mind, though: without these images made public, how can a State Senator named Ellie portray herself as a victim of my allegedly threatening behavior? Would Ellie have gone to the extra trouble of obtaining my mugshot in order to post my image at the Senior Center where Ellie is doing her thing?

Here’s the response from Missoula Mugs about the ending of their website:

So what did you do this weekend, Muggers? Some normal stuff, I bet. Took down the Halloween decorations, perhaps? Maybe a pleasant walk in Greenough Park. You know how we spent the weekend here at Mugs HQ? We spent it getting our site gutted by Missoula County. That’s right, friends, Missoula Mugs is kaput.

As of November 1st, someone in your local Missoula County government made the decision to remove booking photos from the online jail roster. See for yourself.

The question, of course, is why? Why destroy this treasured local institution? (We happen to know that each day Mugs is visited by thousands and thousands of you beautiful connoisseurs of penal portraiture.) Have we not been totally cool about all this? We never allowed comments on Mugs, never took this thing to social media, and never tried to cash in on this glorious venture—and not for lack of opportunity, believe you me. (Sure, we let Dwight Schulte advertise on Mugs, but we didn’t do that for the money, we did it because Dwight is dope as hell.) When a Missoula County elected official came to us last winter and asked us to promote the county’s “Let’s Not Wreck the Holidays” anti-drunk driving campaign, we were total team players about the whole thing. In fact, we wrote the rootin’est, tootin’est, most rip-roaring PSA those squares at the county have ever laid eyes on.

And let’s get one thing straight right here, and we need you all to bring your eyes closer to the device right now. We have never taken somebody’s mugshot down from this page in exchange for money. As in, not one time, ever. People have asked over the years, and the answer is always the same: How did you get this number? Seriously though, we absolutely do not pull mugs for money and we never have. We’re aware of some imposters on social media, but we have no control over those copy-and-paste hacks and their off-brand trash bag mugshot account on Mark Zuckerberg’s website. Here’s how you tell us from the poseurs: We don’t allow comments, we aren’t on social media, and we have a gold-plated automated application that doesn’t requires us to control-c/control-v ten times a day to keep our site going.

Bottom line is here at Mugs, we love everybody. We love the cops, we love the people who sometimes get arrested by cops, and we love all of you most of all, Muggers. All we’ve ever done is help keep you all informed of just what this government of the people, for the people, and by the people, is doing.
Unfortunately, the copycats on the local mugshot scene haven’t been as scrupulous, and so one bad apple has ruined it for everybody. And can we level with you, Muggers? We can see where Missoula County is coming from on this one. Missoula Mugs was never about kicking somebody while they’re down. That guy in the mugshot? Hell, we know that guy. We’ve been that guy. Making fun of that guy online is a punk move. If others are doing that, or worse, then we can see why Missoula County wants to shut this whole thing down.

Sucks though, right Muggers? Your window into the workings of your government just got smaller. Up until now, you knew who they were arresting and why. And if somebody got arrested and got pretty well beat up in the process, well, you’d be able to see that too, wouldn’t you? Not anymore.

We’re not super political types, but we know whoever did this is elected, or answers to somebody who’s elected. At they very least, shouldn’t they take responsibility for this decision and explain their reasoning? This seems like a perfect test case for whether that whole “death of local journalism” thing is real. A website with tens of thousands of local visitors has been silently eviscerated by the county government for giving citizens too much information about what local law enforcement is up to. Sounds like a good news story, no?

As for where it goes from here, that’s up to all of you. We’re warriors for truth, sure, but we’re not big on activism. Ball’s in your court, Muggers.

What else is happening today? Oh yeah, people are voting in an election. Funny. Enjoy your Democracy LARP, America, I’ll be at home, playing with Legos.

P-Diddy, P-Nut, And The Waning Influence Of Celebrities

by Travis Mateer

Today is the birthday of Sean Combs, a celebrity who continues to have some interesting influence as rumors and accusations swirl about his “freak off” sex parties. Unlike the rodent celebrity radicalizing the internet after being taken and executed by the state of New York, Sean Combs won’t be facing officially lethal consequences for his actions, but that obviously doesn’t stop the internet from speculation.

When you think about celebrities and the connections they have, the game SIX DEGREES OF KEVIN BACON comes to mind. Here’s a description of how to play this game:

Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon or Bacon’s Law is a parlor game where players challenge each other to arbitrarily choose an actor and then connect them to another actor via a film that both actors have appeared in together, repeating this process to try to find the shortest path that ultimately leads to prolific American actor Kevin Bacon. It rests on the assumption that anyone involved in the Hollywood film industry can be linked through their film roles to Bacon within six steps.

Using this concept, how many degrees is Montana from P-Diddy? Either two or three, by my estimation, because we have Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis getting public scrutiny, and Mila Kunis has a new movie coming out with Glen Close, and Glen Close now lives in Bozeman, which this article goes into detail about.

First, here’s the Kutcher blurb getting fresh attention:

The Dude Where’s My Car actor said: “I’ve got a lot I can’t tell. Diddy party stories, man, that was like, some weird memory lane.”

His years-old comments went viral on social media after prosecutors accused Combs of abusing women at drug-fueled sex parties known as ‘Freak Offs’.

While Ashton has reportedly attended some of Diddy’s aboveboard bashes in the past, including his famed Labor Day White Party in the Hamptons, there’s no indication the actor ever attended a ‘Freak Off’ party.

While any actor publicly connected to Diddy is now squirming under the unwanted attention, Glen Close continues enjoying her Montana life, which she started living right before the pandemic, in 2019. According to the article linked above, Close seems to understand how much we don’t care about her ilk when she made comments like this one (emphasis mine):

Again, Close acknowledges that she’s often reticent to use her high profile to bolster causes because fame does not translate into credibility. “Lending my name is not a natural instinct for me,” she says. “And with something like the cause of bringing dignity to those who struggle with mental health issues, it’s not like you can start and then decide I just don’t want to do this anymore. For an introvert like me, it was a conscious decision and one where there was no alternative because it involves my family.”

Inspired by her sister’s courage, Glenn has lent her support, appearing at book events and rallies with her side by side, calling upon politicians and the medical community to give mental health issues the resources and dignity they deserve.

Their co-initiative, Bring Change to Mind, which she and Jessie created, is intended to bring discussions about mental health out of the dark ages and end the shame that society has imposed on its many sufferers. In Bozeman, the Closes and friends have made it clear that better mental health care needs to be a priority. And they are not going away.

Yes, I agree with Glen Close, fame DOES NOT TRANSLATE INTO CREDIBILITY, but despite this comment, here we have Glen Close making the pitch to Montanans to vote for Jon Tester, a politician who has been in power for nearly a decade while Montana’s status as a TOP STATE for suicides has NOT CHANGED.

From the link (emphasis mine):

The Democratic candidates started their joint tour of the state on Friday with rallies in Livingston and Bozeman, where actress Glenn Close made a surprise appearance in support of the Democrats, saying she would be out knocking on doors to get out the vote.

On this final day before America’s political charade hits the crescendo of bullshit, any celebrity who thinks regular Americans give a shit about their opinions need to get a reality check and fuck off. Our institutions are corrupt, are political parties are shit, and anyone who thinks their vote matters is a wishful thinking moron who must deny all the evidence to the contrary.

While American’s pull the lever for dumb or dumber on Tuesday, I’ll be thinking about another local case of another dead body found in water, and why answers on how that dead body became a dead body will NOT be forthcoming. I hope I’m wrong, but I’ve seen this scenario play out too many times in BIG SKY country, and there’s no reason to think Eva Prather’s case will be any different.

If you appreciate my uncompromising local reporting, please consider donating to Travis’ Impact Fund (TIF). I could really use some assistance to cover my expenses this month, so any little bit helps.

On NOT Re-writing History: Remembering Why Missoula’s Festival Of The Dead Got Cancelled

by Travis Mateer

When the Festival of the Dead returned to Missoula last year, some local media publications helped this town re-write history by pretending it was the PANDEMIC that ended the festival and NOT cultural bullies high on the power of cancel culture (emphasis mine):

A Missoula Festival will return this year after a hiatus due to the pandemic. Missoula’s Annual Festival of the Dead, a multicultural event inspired by Dia de los Muertos, will feature events over several days and represent multiple cultures.

While the Missoulian did a little better by not straight-up lying to its audience about what cancel culture did to the festival, the fact that the same cancel-culture effort was happening behind the scenes was no longer something the newspaper felt like giving oxygen to, which led me to making this pertinent observation:

I’m writing all this about a festival honoring the dead because I want to highlight how it’s actually the POWER OF THE MEDIA that we’re seeing here because it’s the media that can turn ON a controversy, like they did in 2016, or they can shut it out, which this year exemplifies.

You didn’t hear about angry people giving organizers and supporting businesses angry phone calls this year because the media did NOT tell you that those phone calls were happening, but they were, and I know because one of the organizers told me this directly when I spoke with her on the phone.

One of the big ironies about this story is that a young woman who got White House attention for ANTI-bullying was one of the cultural bullies who helped make little girls cry. But before we look at “Ekoo” Beck, here’s an example of the sadness her cultural bullying produced:

Before bullying sponsors and supporters of this event, Ekoo Beck was getting invited to the White House. Is this where she learned the finer points of cancelling what she doesn’t agree with?

A Hellgate High School senior has earned a trip to the White House as a “Champion of Change” for her work in preventing school bullying and violence.

Iko’tsimiskimaki Beck – you can call her “Ekoo” – is a Blackfeet tribal member who spearheaded a program in Missoula’s schools to train and teach students about anti-bullying techniques and to fight racism.

“One issue that has always been a focus of my family is racism,” said Beck, a 4.0 student who has applied to Harvard University and plans to study neuroscience and neurobiology. “My grandfather worked with Martin Luther King Jr., so my family has always told me about racism and I’ve always known about the inequalities in our society.”

I would have included a screenshot of Ekoo here, but then I remembered the power of those who identify as professional victims, so instead I’ll use some self-censorship and just continue to the part where this professional victim (who isn’t Mexican) helped destroy a cultural event Missoula has been doing for decades:

Ekoo Beck said she grew up in Missoula participating in the festival, but was shocked to see its cultural appropriation and what she called racism when she returned from Harvard University.

“Then I realized how wrong it was,” Beck said. “It becomes a racist situation.”

She worries that, if it continues, future generations of Missoula children will grow up seeing the festival as “just a part of the community” rather than a cultural appropriation and show of disrespect.

How did Ekoo Beck get so motivated to become an agent of cancel-culture change? Was it like the story of Grace Gibson-Snyder, another Hellgate Highschool student with PARENTS lurking behind. her activism? Yes, it would appear that Ekoo Beck has some parents who were ALSO advocating for cancelling Missoula’s festival. The link is to an ESPN article that provides more context on her activism (emphasis mine):

For Beck, 16, the bullying issue cuts to the core of education. “Bullying prevents students from learning,” she said. “I don’t believe students can learn if they are not in a safe space.”

Beck has also helped lead the fight against racism and homophobia. Her paternal grandfather, Armin Beck, worked with Martin Luther King Jr. in the civil rights movement. Her parents, David Beck and Rosalyn LaPier, are professors at the University of Montana, and both specialize in Native American studies. David is of Germanic, British and Swedish descent; Rosalyn is Native American from the Blackfeet tribe in Montana and the Turtle Mountain Chippewa tribe in North Dakota.

Because she is half Native American, Ekoo was teased during her younger years. But she is proud of her roots and recently legally changed her name from Emily Florence to Iko’tsimiskimaki, the name that was given to her informally at birth by her great grandmother.

This sad situation could almost be described as a potential case of Munchausen by proxy, which is defined by Wikipedia as this:

Also known as factitious disorder imposed on another, Munchausen by proxy is a condition in which a caregiver creates the appearance of health problems in another person, typically their own child. This may include injuring the proxy or altering test samples.

To wrap this post up, I’ll speculate that normal liberalism seems to have mutated into a destructive mind-parasite that causes the host to give zero fucks about laws and social norms in this culture war they are waging. Another example is this presidential race where the Biden administration is literally trying to rewrite history.

In a mad scramble to cover for President Biden calling half of the country “garbage,” White House press officials altered the official transcript, overriding official stenographers who objected to the alterations, the Associated Press reports.

According to the pre-altered transcript, Biden said “The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters — his — his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.”

However White House press office added an apostrophe, reading “supporter’s” rather than “supporters,” in order to peddle the falsehood that Biden was criticizing comic Tony Hinchcliffe, who referred to the US island territory of Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.”

As someone who used to identify as a progressive myself, being a liberal wasn’t always synonymous with being mentally ill, but here we are, folks. I really hope these people get some help, because if Trump wins (which appears likely, barring fuckery), then I’m afraid they would rather destroy this country and its innovative Constitutional protections than allow their political opponents a victory.

If you appreciate my ability to NOT allow local history to be rewritten, please consider donating to Travis’ Impact Fund (TIF). Any little bit helps.
