What Scapegoat Will Democrats Choose To Elude Accountability For Sucking So Hard?

by Travis Mateer

The results are clear: Donald Trump will be America’s 47th president. That means we can move on to the next phase of this process: listening to WHY Democrats lost, from their loser perspective. Was it Russia? Male toxicity? Racism? Sexism? What factor, or factors, will Democrats choose to latch onto in order to avoid the harsh reality that their party is despised by a significant portion of the American public, and yesterday that portion of the public sent a message: a foul-mouthed felon is vastly more preferable than a cackling wine guzzler who can barely string together coherent sentences.

One of the tired refrains that gets applied to people like me, who no longer participate in this charade, is that by not voting I don’t have the right to complain about the result. Who says I didn’t participate? I did, in fact, put my ballot in a ballot box, it just happened to be an ANTIQUE ballot box from a time when technology wasn’t an insidious force of influence in our country and world.

Democrats aren’t the only ones who may need to find a scapegoat soon. If Jon Tester loses, and Montana becomes a bloody hue of Republican Red, then it will be up to Republicans to fix things that are broken, like our criminal justice system, our Medicaid system, and the gentrifying tax schemes Republicans ignored last session BECAUSE ZOOEY!

Since I’m not a partisan hack, I’ll be more than happy to continue probing our politicians for evidence of competency as they pretend to be able to do the job the public elected them to do. For example, since Zooey Zephyr DID win reelection, will Republicans in Montana be capable of ignoring the trolling of her national trans-agenda?

If Republicans think they have any narrative-control abilities in this state, this quote from NBC Montana about the Zephyr victor should give stupid Montana Republicans something to think about (emphasis mine):

Zephyr, a Democrat, defeated Republican Barbara Starmer in her Democrat-leaning district in the college town of Missoula.

Zephyr, who was in her first term, was last permitted to speak on the chamber floor in April 2023, when she refused to apologize for saying some lawmakers would have blood on their hands for supporting a ban on gender-affirming medical care for youth.

Before voting to expel Zephyr from the chamber, Republicans called her words hateful and accused her of inciting a protest that brought the session to a temporary standstill. Some even sought to equate the non-violent demonstration with an insurrection.

Cool! If THROWING THINGS is non-violent, how about I attend a County Commissioner meeting and throw something in protest of tax policy? Would our County Commissioners agree that throwing things is non-violent, or would I be instead arrested for attempted assault? (emphasis mine):

The April 24 protest temporarily stopped legislative action on the House floor. Demonstrators were at the Capitol in support of Zephyr, after House Speaker Rep. Matt Regier, R-Kalispell, repeatedly refused to recognize her to speak on the floor. Republican leaders said Zephyr, a transgender woman, had violated legislative rules of decorum when she said during a floor debate that lawmakers should be ashamed and would have “blood on their hands” for passing a bill banning gender-affirming medical procedures for transgender youth.

On April 24, Zephyr’s supporters disrupted the daily floor session by shouting and chanting “Let her speak!” from the House gallery. Some threw red gloves onto the floor. Regier stopped the session and ordered the gallery cleared, but many protesters remained, as Zephyr stood at her desk, holding her microphone over her head.

It will be interesting to see how Democrats handle the clear message that was sent last night by voters that their woke, cancel-culture bullshit is DONE! Will they ignore this obvious reality, or will they perhaps finally get to that stage in the grief process where they accept that it’s not Russians, or racism, or sexism that’s to blame for their loss, it’s WHAT THEY STAND FOR that’s so unpopular.

If you appreciate how I’ve mostly stayed away from national politics in order to report on LOCAL shenanigans, then please consider donating to Travis’ Impact Fund (TIF). Any little bit helps.
