Today is the day I’m choosing to publish a text exchange between me, the journalist guy, and Guy Baker, the detective guy. I’m going to withhold the exact timing of this text exchange and a few other factors that make it extra curious to me.
Before I get to the texts, a quick announcement: my first article appeared yesterday at Western Montana News, and subsequent articles will appear every Thursday. Because I think it’s relevant to my own work, I’ll note that May 31st, 1921, is the date of the Tulsa massacre.
This real historical event was used in the fictional adaptation of Watchmen, a show packed with synchronistic messaging for me, so I think it’s appropriate that today is the day I publish the curious text exchange initiated by Detective Baker two months ago.
All that said, here it is:

For new readers of this humble little blog, Detective Baker is a notorious law man from a law family, and though his dad seemed to be a respected member of law enforcement, I’m starting to get the impression that his son is not.
How do I gather the anecdotal stories that I base my speculation on? It’s simple, I have a big mouth with no filter and I use it everywhere I go. I call it my echo location shit-talking method. Here’s a visual:

After the flower girl incident Baker references in his exchange with me, it was the murder trial of Lee Nelson, a well-known homeless man, that inspired me to be more explicit in my criticism of Detective Baker, and that criticism has produced an incredible amount of stories bouncing back at me that I stash in my figurative pocket.
If you appreciate the content here, Travis’ Impact Fund (TIF) is one way to support my work, or you can find me on the streets of Missoula this evening for a more direct cash donation.
Thanks for reading!
