When I Die Of Covid Please Dance Upon My Grave (A Poem)

by William Skink

For anyone unaware, “William Skink” is the nom de plume I once wrote ALL of my material under. After transforming the name into my LLC, I now reserve its use for the more creative approaches I’m taking with my kitchen-sink effort at enacting the change I want to see in my community.

All that to say the following is a poem written, performed and recorded by…William Skink. Who is also me, Travis Mateer.

when I die of Covid
please dance upon my grave
I am gone--no selfish ego left to save
so dance! you deep reservoirs of concern
you empathy burners
torching down my home with loving flame
and dance upon my grass like mower blades

is it all just echoes bouncing around some
insane god's idle mind? does time snuff us out like
a movie starring Sam, or are there signs?
like the little insect saying HERE I AM
while I write these words?

what, too meta for your DELTA eyes? fine-
the streets are August crowded, smoky mad
and ready to fuck
or fight-

getting more problematic when the sun goes down...
indistinguishable night

man with the giant dog I met
for the second time, here's my card-
if you do not die drunk on the road
perhaps we'll meet again
with you outside your cups and prepared to act
on that knowing we commiserated over

until then I'll kill my dome light
as the cops cruise Main St
taking my good German automobile with the snitch tech
home, confident the GREAT SPIRIT can
transform anything

after all we're only borrowing
these bones

The Timely Story Of The Targeting Of Teodrose Fikremariam By The Barrack Obama Political Machine

by Travis Mateer

It’s difficult for people who haven’t been targeted by political diehards to understand the capabilities of these operatives, so, to prepare for what can happen when you cross influential political creatures with something to lose, I highly recommend reading this article by Teodrose Fikremariam describing how the Obama political machine tried to destroy him.

Here is an excerpt from near the beginning of the piece to set the stage:

This is where the story takes a turn; buckle up because I’m about to tell you the parts of how I became homeless that I concealed for six years that might bake your cookie a la Matrix-style. I frequently cite how I wrote a speech idea in 2008 that I forwarded on to my fraternity brother who used to live in the same neighborhood as the Obamas. Well six years later, I made the fateful decision of telling that story for the first time on social media. The minute I published the YouTube video rightfully claiming credit for the small part I played in crafting Obama’s speech, my life got turned upside down as my family was convinced by a litany of phone calls that I was a danger to myself.

Within short order, the police knocked on my door and I was held against my will for six days. If it was not for the bravery and morality of McLean PD Officer Taj Beaufort, I don’t think I would be here recounting my experience. I went from receiving an invitation to and attending the launching of Organizing for America in Chicago to being persona non-grata overnight. To this day, I have no idea how the wheels were set into motion and why an unknown would-be shisha club owner like me captured the attention of powerful people who decided to turn my life into a living hell. All I know is that I ended up flat on my back homeless in the same state that Barack Obama uttered my words as his closing line.

It’s probably not easy to get some perspective when one is in the midst of being targeted by powerful political forces, so before moving on to another excerpt, here’s something from Wikipedia about the political abuse of psychiatry in the Soviet Union:

There was systematic political abuse of psychiatry in the Soviet Union,[1] based on the interpretation of political opposition or dissent as a psychiatric problem.[2] It was called “psychopathological mechanisms” of dissent.[3]

During the leadership of General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev, psychiatry was used to disable and remove from society political opponents (“dissidents”) who openly expressed beliefs that contradicted the official dogma.[4][5] The term “philosophical intoxication”, for instance, was widely applied to the mental disorders diagnosed when people disagreed with the country’s Communist leaders and, by referring to the writings of the Founding Fathers of Marxism–Leninism—Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Vladimir Lenin—made them the target of criticism.

History and narrative are so incredibly important to this fight we’re engaged in, and it’s no different for Teodrose Fikremariam, who found strength to fight back against this new strain of fascism through his family’s story of resistance against fascists during WWII. From the first link:

Though I get censored all the time, though I at times get anxious about losing my job because of my outspokenness, what I will not do is remain silent out of fear of what others will do to me. I am the son of an Ethiopian naval officer who apparently had a lot more to his story than he ever told me. Both of my grandfathers fought against Mussolini during WWII as military officers and so did my maternal grandmother. My forefather and namesake likewise ate a bullet instead of submitting to fascist invaders. Inspired by Atse Tewodros, Ethiopians defeated a would-be colonial power.

I strongly encourage readers to check out the full article. It’s the first of a three part series, and the second part will be published on Saturday.

I feel saddened that some people just won’t understand why this fight needs to be now and why I, as a parent, am taking a stand against the mask mandate today knowing the vax mandate is just around the corner.

Here’s Fikremariam concluding the first part of his gutsy disclosure:

I do not write this story and relive the traumas of 2015 for the sake of spotlights, I learned the hard way just how hot things can get when you get some people’s attention. I’ve arrived at the decision to finally release what I have been keeping bottled up because I see how the same unaccountable agencies who destroy countless people’s lives, including mine, are now training their guns on all of us. If we do not wake up and mount an effective resistance to Biden and our government’s fascist and global campaign they are supposedly waging against a virus they funded and helped to create, the tribulations I endured in 2015 could very well be our final chapter.

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned…

Just A Few Thoughts On The Resolution Of The Brandon Bryant Case

by Travis Mateer

I was giving the Brandon Bryant case some thought the other day because I have heard, though can’t find it reported, that it took the jury less than an hour to acquit him of the felony intimidation charges that could have landed him in prison for 10 years.

I have also heard that Bryant’s defense was an impressive thing to watch. Too bad our pandemic had to limit public participation in this fascinating court process involving FOUR elected officials giving testimony. And during a municipal political cycle nonetheless!

It’s kind of remarkable to think there is so much going on right now that I haven’t even had time to look into how one goes about getting transcripts.

Maybe next week.

Introducing William Skink’s Backyard Megaphone Monologue Series?

by Travis Mateer

While I wait for Emily Brock’s THE LONGEST TABLE programming to begin its civil discourse crusade with homeless people on the courthouse lawn, I’m seriously considering launching a similar effort, except I’m not interested in a two-way dialogue, hence the MONOLOGUE in the name of my educational series.

What I’m envisioning is a thirty minute educational session with my amplified free-speech maker at locations of my choosing, or at the suggestion of like-minded people eager to remind the budding authoritarians that we still have Constitutionally protected rights to things like free speech.

But just announcing the locations of my BMM series wouldn’t be much fun, and I think fun is going to be an important factor in maintaining morale in the weeks and months to come.

So instead being explicit, I’ll be poetic, and write some lines of poetry to hint at where my BMM educational opportunity will be popping up next.

Here’s today’s if I decide to go through with it.

once my work made them smile
open hands and money piles
now they cringe when I poem
for the nasty I can show 'em

Keyboard Warrior Nathan Stephens Identifies Outsider Threat To Mask Mandates, Mocks Accordingly

by Travis Mateer

I want to support the GOOD Missoulians who care SO DEEPLY about our community they maintain a keyboard-warrior mentality when it comes to community threats, like the awful person who moved to Missoula from Missouri four years ago as a sleeper agent now activated to thwart the VERY SCIENTIFIC powers of the mighty mask.

Don’t worry, terrified Missoulians, Nathan Stephens is ON THE CASE identifying this threat on Twitter:

The person Groundswell Nate is scrutinizing is Amy Livesay and you can read about her here.

Yes, she moved here from Missouri, and is now involved in her local community. GASP! If Groundswell Nate is so upset by this, I wonder what he thinks about Maggie Bornstein, the young activist who moved here from Massachusetts around the same time and is now trying to smear a Missoula City Council candidate as a homophobe.

So who is this Nate guy? Well, he does web design stuff, like this look for Jean Curtiss, and his wife is (or was) involved in public/private small business incubator stuff at the dumpster fire known as the University of Montana. From the link:

Jennifer Stephens brings 10+ years of grassroots and formal economic development experience to her role as Missoula SBDC Regional Director. A Montana native, Jennifer earned a B.A. in Journalism from Gonzaga University and an MBA at the University of Montana. Jennifer has been a business advisor with the Blackstone LaunchPad at the University of Montana for the past two years during which she has taken part in over 530 meetings with the nearly 650 entrepreneurs registered with the LaunchPad.

Together with her husband, Nathan Stephens, she co-founded the Montana Web Designers & Developers Association in 2005 to enable tech professionals across the state to network and grow their businesses. She continues to assist with client management for her husband’s business, Groundswell Media Productions. With hands-on business management experience and training, Jennifer has a passion for working with small and micro enterprise businesses as well as helping new startups see the potential for future growth. Recently recruited as an advisor to Missoula’s Kiva Zip program, Jennifer is excited to help Montana business access an additional funding stream through microlending.

After seeing how Groundswell Nate and his Twitter commiserators were lamenting amongst themselves over us stupid bio-medical threats who desperately want to harm other people with our callous disregard for human life, I made an offer which he promptly refused:

Crestfallen at this denied opportunity to converse (not podcast) in real life, I shifted my focus to other things, like what to do with a video of a REAL threat to public safety I recorded yesterday and called 911 about.

But that’s a tale for another day.

I only hope Groundswell Nate has enough outrage left in his outrage tank when it starts dawning on him what’s actually going down in this Engen-guided Zoom Town.
