Why Continue? – by Travis Mateer

As a “citizen journalist” without the kind of travel budget that the right’s latest hero, Nick Shirley, has, maybe I should ask MYSELF the tough questions, like why continue? Because clearly I’m doing something wrong.

Everyone on the right is SO EXCITED about Nick exposing Somali daycare fraud in Minnesota, effectively ending Tim Walz’s political career, they don’t pay attention to details. Why do that when there are so many fun memes to share online?

For anyone who IS curious about Nick Shirley’s Minnesota “reporting”, here’s an excerpt from an NBC Montana article I found illuminating:

Shirley said the man he teamed up with, David, had compiled documentation of alleged fraud through years of investigation.

“David messaged me on Instagram, and out of the hundreds of DMs I get, I just opened David’s, and he had all the proof,” he said on the podcast. “Because I’ve known about the fraud happening for so long in Minnesota since back in June. I’ve known about the fraud, but it’s hard for me to go out and get all the information, because they make it very hard to get the information. Luckily, David had somebody inside the capital who has been leaking him all the numbers, leaking him all the information.”

Do you see what actually happened here? Some guy named “David” did all the work, then DM’d the guy in the hoodie so HE could get that coveted attention from Elon Musk, another savior for the retarded political right.

Speaking of retarded, one of the 8 articles the award winning Pulp put out last month was about the Missoula comedy scene promoting their own irrelevance by virtue-signaling censorship. Isn’t that retarded?

I’m not trying to be funny when I speculate that there might be retarded people running The Pulp. For example, at the end of the obligatory 2025 in review article, The Pulp offers links to articles from both their local upstart and a few other competing news outlets, stating these other “big” headlines were courtesy of The Pulp and “our other friends in the local press corps”.

The “local” press corps?

Um, sorry guys, I don’t think “The New York Times” can be considered a member of the “local” press corps. Unless, of course, you are retarded.

Lee Enterprises made news about their ability to deliver the news recently because, like most everything with our media landscape, they’re hoping a billionaire will save them, something that sounds VERY retarded to me.

Lee Enterprises, which last year fought off an effort by David Hoffmann and the Hoffmann Family of Companies, has announced a $50 million stock purchase agreement priced at $3.25 per share—led by Hoffmann, which owns interests in eight verticals of industries that include real estate, agriculture and media & marketing.

Billionaire David Hoffmann will become chair of the board upon closing of the strategic equity deal, and Kevin Mowbray, president and CEO of Lee, will retire. Nathan Bekke, now chief operating officer of Lee, will serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement for Mowbray is found.

In a decision announced on X, Western Montana News opted NOT to continue publishing, though the archive will still be unavailable, unlike the Indy’s archive after that piece of shit, Matt Gibson, had his way with it.

I went to Western Montana News this morning and started counting how many articles were published for the month of December. I already mentioned The Pulp had 8 articles, though I’d double-check my math.

And Western Montana News? How many articles were posted during that same period by ONE person running a website with NO paycheck? Over 70 articles! There were definitely local things I became aware of because some of those articles, but no longer, and understandable move when you understand what the narrative controllers are willing to do to MAINTAIN their control over the information environment.

While I’m not throwing in the towel myself, I’m really not sure why I continue posting about this stupid fucking town when so many here want to stay ignorant. Women die in ditches, money gets wasted, but don’t use THE R WORD or else there will be BIG PROBLEMS.

How about this, Missoula: stop BEING retarded and I’ll stop CALLING YOU retarded.

Thanks for reading.

  1. Why continue? Because you cannot keep quiet. But, then, you’re not the first person to have that problem and you won’t be the last.

“But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.” — Jeremiah 20:9

Take care of yourself, my friend. You’ve been through a lot. R&R. Take time off to get some spiritual/emotional rejuvenation and healing. The world can wait. We can wait.

    Love to you, brother.

  2. I’m going to use my free speech to tell you that using the R slur as a pejorative is just virtue signalling turned in on itself – Vice signaling, if you will. You think it makes you sound edgy and cool, but it really makes you sound bitter and hate-filled.

You are, of course, welcome to continue signalling your vice to your fellow edgelords, but to decent people its a disgusting look.

I suspect your free speech absolutism will not be extended to my comment.

    1. Behavior disgusts me more than words do. Why have you never commented on the many posts I’ve written about the Sheriff’s Office murdering a black man?

      1. Last I checked you don’t have much influence over who kills who in Missoula, but you do have control of your own words.

    2. Your virtue signaling is pathetic. My brother was murdered and the corrupt police and DA stonewalled our family and countless other victims families. I have many expletives for this town, “R-word” included.
Travis- thank you sir for continuing to shed light on the ignorance and corruption.
