Tomorrow is the last day to vote in Montana’s Special Election. With time ticking away, and leading in the polls, all Gianforte has to do is not assault a reporter from the Guardian.
Montana’s Special Election has just entered the last 24 hours, and tomorrow is sure to be a cacophony of political noise. The accusation from the Guardian’s Ben Jacobs that Gianforte body-slammed him to the ground is erupting across social media.
And yet, somehow, even with this alleged violent outburst, I still don’t think Rob Quist is going to pull this off.

During that conversation, another man — who we now know is Ben Jacobs of The Guardian — walked into the room with a voice recorder, put it up to Gianforte’s face and began asking if him if he had a response to the newly released Congressional Budget Office report on the American Health Care Act. Gianforte told him he would get to him later. Jacobs persisted with his question. Gianforte told him to talk to his press guy, Shane Scanlon.
At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the man, as he moved on top the reporter and began yelling something to the effect of “I’m sick and tired of this!”

I bet they didn’t even test Greg for meth or steroids but the rage and viciousness of the attack is classic meth or steroid rage.
I see the Lee News Papers have rescinded their endorsements. I guess they also had new information, but from where I sit, they totally missed what many others saw.

Physical assault. He probably won’t get arrested (looks like they just wrote him a ticket — such be the privilege of wealthy white men), and it will gain him votes. Democracy is dead. Fascism ascends.
Headlock, body slam, punches, broken glasses and maybe broken arm. And here’s the Gallatin County sheriff. Remember, Gianforte is the local version of Denny Washington, he who can do no wrong, and flings money everywhere to grease his passage.
Broken arm? Hell, GN40 broke his back.
I’m hoping GG wins tonite – one reason is that we now created a new verb – anytime a paparazzi or reporter gets in somebody’s face they now run the risk of having a ‘Gianforte’ done on them – and if Paul Ryan doesn’t bring pro-Montana legislation forward, we call him up and threaten to send Greg over 🙂
Don’t overlook the possibility that this reporters job was to get his ass kicked – remember the comedy movie Happy Gilmore where Shooter McGavin sent a dickwheat over to harass him on purpose?
It’d be pretty funny if GG had to spend the first six months of his term in the pokey, now wouldn’t it, Eric?

The reporter, who weighs around 150 pounds, was an easy target for cowardly 200 pounder GG. Also, he’s a Jew. Christian nationalists are giving GG a lot of attaboys.

I remember years ago at a party somewhere an obnoxious drunk was hassling Denny Rehberg and his friend, and one of them put the hammer on him for his trouble. I thought that was hilarious too.

This is Montana. If you get in a mans face it is possible you might end up picking yourself up off the floor. That is the way it’s always been. So if you are a 150# reporter, who has to be reassured that he has a dick, I would recommend him NOT get in men’s faces. 🙂

I’ve lived in this state for almost 25 years and the only people who act like greg are on meth or steroids.
No you don’t Steve – you don’t like it one bit watching the death of the Montana Democratic Party as we know it. The Dems, the party of the rich, blew $11 million dollars, only to finish about 2 points better than The last several Dem house candidates.
Maybe this will be a time for a little self-reflection, and the Dems will realize that special rights for gays, gun control, abortions on demand, and class warfare don’t sell in Montana.
Yeah, but thousands of republican voters have buyer’s remorse pretty big today. Chalk one up for the scum-suckers, because Gianforte fits right into the scum-scuking mold of congress right now. I hope he gets some significant time hob-nobbing with the proles in orange to break up his self-serving tax-cutting, fund raising, and business-building tour to D.C.
Of course, another way to look at it is we’ve gone from Zinke -> Gianforte. NBFD. Same as it ever was.
So Eric, do you think an employer should be able to fire an employee for being gay? Or evict a gay tenant because he’s gay? What “special rights” are you talking about? Rights that you already enjoy?

This last comment over at The Montana Cowgirl says it all.

JC, if you stop and think about it, you’re buying into the narrative that the media and the loony left are pushing.
It is that the people are already fed up with Pres. Trump, and now they are going to flock to the Democrat Party like Oprah after a plate of cookies.
That’s not the case, but the Dems pumped $11 million dollars into this race, thinking they could generate a win, at any cost, and claim they have some sort of momentum.
The Dems had a shot at winning this, but once again, they messed up.
First, they let former Gov. BS pick a candidate. To get him nominated, they went out into areas where you can’t find hardly anybody voting Democrat, and set up new Central Committees so they could have ad hoc votes at the convention. Naturally they put up Quist.
Did they take a good look at him? Obviously not, because it turned out he was a deadbeat and a scammer.
Second mistake was not throwing out the old playbook.
Everybody knows that the Dems aren’t Sportsmen, hunters, or shooters. They don’t want anybody fishing or using public land, OMG, they might step on a weed or something, right? . But they pose Quist with a Winchester, that he shoots a TV with, and then waves around with his finger on the trigger, and had him talking about protecting our rights on public lands. Then, they try the old class warfare, claiming Quist wouldn’t represent “millionaires”.
The third problem they had, was that good investigative reporting found out the dirty details on Quist, and everybody found out about them. He’s not an outdoorsman. Hasn’t hunted or fished leagally, and his financial problems could be bound into a book.
If the Dems could have somebody from the working class, who wouldn’t have been a deadbeat, and who didn’t have a trail of anti-gun votes in Helena, they could have won this race. But it seems that Democrats like that are kept out of leadership positions in the Dem party. If you look at every bill the last couple of sessions concerning late hunts, gun rights, etc., all the no votes have a (D) behind them.
That’s why this election is going to bring down the Montana Democratic Party. There is going to be an autopsy of the Quist campaign, and a lot of Dems are going to start wondering why they haven’t won the House Seat in 2 decades, no matter how much money they throw at it.
I’m hoping they convince themselves that the Russians hacked this election or something, and don’t change a thing, because in 4 years when we have a GOP Governor again, and strong majorities in Helena, that we can finally start recovering from the damage done by Gov. BS that was prolonged by Bullock.
Don’t forget, if you are disenfranchised by the Democrats, there is a true party of the people here, called the Montana Republican Party. We think opportunity knocks, while the Democrats knock opportunity. We don’t bash successful people, we want everybody to be successful, and find that American Dream that the Dems have been promising to give you since FDR. We are the party of the big tent, and all are welcome.
Eric, I’m not buying into that because I’m not paying any attention to it. You’ve built quite the strawman there, but I’m to lax’d out to rebut.
I don’t think so JC – Strawmen dont promote candidates and bundle up cash – those are real people. BUT – when you talk about a bunch of people with buyers remorse, who don’t exist, those do sound like strawmen to me.
The remorseful were on the radio talking about it, elections officials were talking about it, poll workers were talking about it, people I know were talking about it. So they exist. But you can pretend that they don’t. DOn’t matter anyways. GG will look cool in orange, and maybe they can run his mug shot for ads next year during reelection.
Semantic error. Low voter turnout and “big tent” do not compute. No class war? Read the tax code. Woke up.
Honestly, the Ben Jacobs/Gianforte event is highly suspicious. If everything in politics is stageplay, keeping us distracted and out of the hair of real power, then the political campaigns are scripted and the winner known well in advance. So this event, timed as it was, was no accident, was planned, and if it even happened at all, then Jacobs took a pratfall.
Automatically I want to ask the question “for whose benefit?” Then I remember that the “two parties” are really one, so it was not done to benefit either. And since our “journalism” is fake too, the “reporter” Jacobs was assigned the gig and played his part. The event caught some national attention, even Rush Limbaugh weighing in (he thinks Sun Valley is in Montana, by the way, and badly mangled Ryan Zinke’s name, not even aware that he took on the role of Sec of Int).
All I can think at this time is that the event left the impression that journalists really report news, and that politicians really care what journalists write. That would make it a minor psyop, that’s all.
Anyway, relax. GIanforte is not a thug, just a douchebag politician, and Quist, probably a douche as well, was scripted to lose and can now go back to tending his herpes.

Your link below tells me that Quist was a sacrificial lamb, meaning the two parties were in agreement on known outcome of this election. Does it not seem odd that they work together on these things?
