The scheduling seemed strategic. Who wants to sit in a boardroom talking TIF policy helping hotel developers on the Monday after the 4th of July weekend besides the people who are going to benefit from it?
How about the citizen journalist who has been covering this LONG effort to develop this parcel of prime real estate for the past 5 years?
My unscripted commentary in this tiny boardroom was a reminder that not every citizen in this stupid town appreciates the damage done to the general fund by our shadow government, the MRA. I specifically called out the impact on law enforcement who, I argued, is ALREADY not up to the task of dealing with the mounting body count of unexplained deaths I’m bringing attention to with this little handbill:

This is the flyer I referenced in my comment as the window of the boardroom framed my view of the Homeless Outreach Team van I once drove when I established that program over a decade ago. When I made my exit, cackling at Checota’s failed attempt to scheme himself into the convention center obsession of our previous Mayor, John Engen, you can hear a voice speak up, saying to the quiet boardroom, “Welcome to Missoula”.
Another reference I made was to the strategy of “land-banking” that MRA used to justify buying a shitty motel for TOO MUCH money, then demolishing it. My assessment? FAIL!
For a better idea of what I mean when I use their stupid term, “land-banking”, here’s some city-funded propaganda that comes with “local press” laundered accolades describing the “fruit” of land-banking:

When it comes to opposing the demoralizing actions of an unelected shadow government hell-bent on strengthening and expanding its tentacles, the body count is the clear underdog when going up against a 100 million dollar hotel, but if I know anything from my pop-culture programming, it’s that the public almost ALWAYS cheers for the underdog.
For a final chuckle, here’s the gelded Nugent going to the social medias to cheerlead for this project:

And here’s my response:
