Mocking Dudes With Guns In Virginia Accomplishes What Exactly?

by William Skink

Liberal social media had a great MLK holiday weekend mocking dudes with guns in Virginia. No minds were changed, lots of virtue signaling was accomplished and thankfully the violence everyone expected to happen (thanks to corporate media hype) didn’t.

Actual analysis of “solutions” being proposed to gun violence, like red-flag laws, were not a big part of this polarizing issue over the weekend.

Red-flag laws need to be critically examined before they are pushed into law by zealots who claim we HAVE TO DO SOMETHING because of mass-casualty shooting tragedies.

Giving the courts the power to seize firearms first because a family member or law enforcement official is worried about someone’s mental status, then providing due process later, is extremely dangerous and ripe for abuse.

I would like to see more analysis from the communities that have implemented red-flag laws–especially as it relates to the criminal justice system’s burden to carry out these policies–and less social media chatter adding nothing of value to the conversation.
