I don’t want to take this seriously. Should I take it seriously? I don’t want to take it seriously. Hillary 2020 is a reality:
Forget about Democrats asking Bernie voters for forgiveness, or looking in the mirror to see why Trump won. They’ve learned nothing after cheating Bernie Sanders, the only populist candidate within the Democratic Party, in an election where voters yearned for a populist candidate. Furthermore, most Hillary voters would absolutely love Clinton to run again, especially since Russia stole the election and Comey’s letter helped Putin. Yes, Harry Reid accused the FBI’s James Comey of helping Vladimir Putin undermine democracy.
Many Democrats truly want a third Clinton campaign.
Now, I don’t like diagnosing people because I don’t have the credentials to make assessments on someone’s mental health status, but anyone who thinks a two-time loser should launch a third destined-to-fail campaign is certifiably insane.
Maybe you think that smug sociopath, Hillary Clinton, just keeps getting cheated out of her rightful place in the White House. Maybe you think her mocking Flynn with a pizzagate retweet is really clever. Maybe you have a glorious vision of Hillary taking it to Vlad and destroying Russia to establish the neolibercon wet dream of full spectrum dominance.
Whatever those Hillary supporters are thinking, hopefully reality never intrudes, because if it does the cognitive dissonance could make heads explode.
The more I watch this dangerous fiasco, the more I think America deserves Trump and we deserve to never again be taken seriously on the global stage. The delusional national rhetoric of being the shining city on the hill is dead. Long live the delusion!

Perhaps the greatest delusion of all: Belief in “Our Democracy.” Is it so? For those who still believe, I have only one question: Based upon what evidence? Since the SCOTUS intervention in the 2000 Gore vs. Bush affair, I’m having a hard time seeing the light. I see a “show,” and that’s all.
It goes back to removing JFK from office for me. Nixon was taken down by the same deep state intelligencia that took JFK down. People think Watergate was the public story we’ve all been brainwashed to believe it was. But it was all a setup by the CIA looking to derail him for not being a player. After a 4 year Carter interlude, the CIA/deep state brought us 20 years of Reagan/Bushism, and 16 years of Clinton/Obama. Trump is an outlier, so he’s going to pay for it with another CIA/deep state coup. They would have done the same to Sanders. The Union is lost. The only thing left to do is work on issues and save what we can till the end of the current endarkenment brings another enlightenment.
JC, The strategy of abandoning electoral power assumes the deep state is unified and always will be. This is flawed.
After years of the downward spiral and negative feed back loop of small organizing you are seriously suggesting more of the same?
Enlightenment comes from within, not from without.

My hope is our Montana Democratic Party electors will wisely elect Amanda Curtis to be our candidate to face off against Gianforte. Then I hope Amanda will run a BIG campaign with BIG ideas that moves all of the base and beyond, even Turner, since that’s the only way we are ever going to win an election in this state. And I hope Amanda puts racial justice at the center of her campaign, for the same reason, the need to go big fast.
I hope our allies across the country who would enjoy an electoral victory by a progressive Democrat will join us in making it so by helping us contact voters.. We have a golden opportunity to fight for a champion and to propel our political revolution forward.
Winning elections is a real and useful strategy for creating change.
Liz; relax and have fun. After all, it’s not you who have to reform the Democratic Party. You don’t have to get anyone elected. And Hill isn’t that great of a bogey man as you make out. She is what she is. Maybe Bill will run. That should get your juices flowing!
Actually I expect we will see a lot of new candidates in the next few years as the Sanders revolution continues to organize and promote citizen electoral activity.

I have my bleak moments when I give up on the electoral system, nationally. I still am involved locally, so don’t worry about that. FWIW, I’m reading Micah White’s (one of the guys from Adbusters who kicked off Occupy) “The End Of Protest: A New Playbook For Revolution.” While I’ve enjoyed his perspective quite a bit, he is a bit pedantic, and some of his aspirations like a World Party are disturbing. I’ll take a look at Rules and add it to my reading list.
Part of White’s appeal was to retreat from the urban battle front and work on rural organizing and women’s movements. That stuff is very appealing to a broad expanse of folks. Other than that he does a great job of doing a historical deconstruction of the history of protest and revolution. When I see that tack, of course I want to see how he reconstructs protest and revolution in meaningful ways. I’m still not convinced he is correct, but I’ve still got 1/3 of the book to go.

As a Republican, I truly hope they run Curtis again. She was on KTVQ last night, with a sound clip about voting against having trained teachers armed in the schools, and she started to explain that having armed teachers would actually be anti-2nd amendment, and mercifully the TV station cut her off.
I think the Dems only hope for this seat would to be to find a new face, a Jimmy Carter, that nobody knows, that the establishment Dems would spend money on.

The Dems haven’t learned anything yet, so anything is possible.
If and when Ryan Zinke is confirmed as Trumps Ag Secretary you will see a civil war in the Montana Democratic Party, as the Obama disciples will go against the Country Club Dems in nominating a candidate to run for the seat.
This is the same party who ran Nancy Keenan, Tracy Velasquez, Monica Lindeen, and Amanda Curtis for this same seat, and they all lost by about the same numbers, regardless of who their opponent was. The last ‘fashionable’ pick was Denise Juneau, who ran for Senate instead of the House – same results.
I’m thinking they’ll pick another woman candidate, with no money of course, just because Hillary declared this year the year of the woman. And I’m thinking they will pick one of those retreads I just mentioned.
The national Dems won’t try Hillary again – assuming she’s not in a nursing home in 3 years anyway, but I’m thinking our Montana Dems will all come away from their nominating process, in divided camps, wondering how they ended up with whatever candidate they got, just as the National Dems did with Hillary.
The split in Montana’s Democratic Party isn’t between “country club Democrats” and “Obama disciples.” It’s between establishment Dems and Berniecrats. If party insiders nominate someone who’s a virtual Republican, someone like Baucus, we old-time lefties won’t support him. So it could be another big year for Republicans.
So you are in a quandary. Montana s have elected Max, but they won’t elect any of the women they tried before, who I’d consider ‘establishment’ candidates for the Montana Dem Party.
I don’t see any standouts from the Dems in the Legislature without baggage, like bad gun votes.
The bench seems really thin right now, for both parties.
Dems got a celebrity. How the reps going to match that? lol
